이 포스트에서 $V$는 유한차원 $F$-벡터공간으로 취급한다.
$V$의 기저 $\beta = \{x, y\}, \beta' = \{x' ,y'\}$이 주어졌을 때 임의의 벡터 $v \in V$는 각각의 기저를 사용해 좌표 벡터 $[v]_{\beta}, [v]_{\beta'}$으로 표현 가능하다. 이때 좌표를 변환하는, 즉 두 좌표 벡터 사이의 관계식을 구할 수 있다.
Introduction
$[x']_{\beta} = \begin{pmatrix} a \\ b \end{pmatrix}, [y']_{\beta} = \begin{pmatrix} c \\ d \end{pmatrix}$라고 가정하자. 즉 $$x' = ax + by \\ y' = cx + dy \\ \Longrightarrow \begin{pmatrix} x' \\ y' \end{pmatrix} = \begin{pmatrix} a & b \\ c & d \end{pmatrix} \begin{pmatrix} x \\ y \end{pmatrix}$$이다.
이때 $Q := \begin{pmatrix} a & b \\ c & d \end{pmatrix}$으로 정의한다. 한편 $Q = \begin{pmatrix} a & b \\ c & d \end{pmatrix} = \begin{pmatrix} [x']_{\beta} & [y']_{\beta} \end{pmatrix} = [I_V]_{\beta'}^{\beta}$이 성립한다. 따라서 두 좌표 벡터를 매개해주는 행렬 $Q$를 change of coordinate matrix, 좌표 변환 행렬이라고 부른다.
Change of Coordinate Matrix
Definition 1. Let $\beta$ and $\beta'$ be ordered bases for $V$. We define a change of coordinate matrix $Q = [I_V]_{\beta'}^{\beta}$. We say that $Q$ changes $\beta'$-coordinates into $\beta$-coordinates.
구체적으로 $\beta = \{x_1, ..., x_n\}$ and $\beta' = \{x'_1, ..., x'_n\}$이라 하면, $$x'_j = \sum_{i=1}^{n} Q_{ij}x_i (j = 1, ..., n)$$이 성립한다. 즉 introduction의 경우와 마찬가지로 $[Q]^j = [x'_j]_{\beta}$이다.
Theorem 1
Theorem 1. Let $\beta$ and $\beta'$ be two ordered bases for $V$, and let $Q = [I_V]_{\beta'}^{\beta}.$ Then
(a) $Q$ is invertible,
(b) $\forall v \in V, [v]_{\beta} = Q[v]_{\beta'}.$
Proof.
(a) Since $I_V$ is invertible, so is $Q$ by Theorem 3.
(b) $Q[v]_{\beta'} = [I_V]_{\beta'}^{\beta}[v]_{\beta'} = [I_V(v)]_{\beta} = [v]_{\beta}$ by Theorem 6. $\blacksquare$
Theorem 2
Theorem 2. Let $T \in \mathcal{L}(V)$, and let $\beta, \beta'$ be ordered bases for $V$. If $Q$ is the change of coordinate matrix that changes $\beta'$-coordinates into $\beta$-coordinates, then $[T]_{\beta'} = Q^{-1}[T]_{\beta}Q.$
Proof. $Q^{-1}[T]_{\beta}Q = ([I_V]_{\beta'}^{\beta})^{-1}[T]_{\beta}[I_V]_{\beta'}^{\beta} = [I_V]_{\beta}^{\beta'}[T]_{\beta}[I_V]_{\beta'}^{\beta} = [I_VTI_V]_{\beta'} = [T]_{\beta'}.$ $\blacksquare$
